You've Got Some Wins- Let's Make Them Stick

Turn "good days" into your new normal.

What This Means

✔️Your child is able to follow some parts of the routine, but often needs you to prompt or remind them for each task.

✔️When one part of the day gets off track- like homework running late or dinner taking too long- it can throw everything else out of balance.

✔️Your child needs more opportunities to develop skills for independence instead of being told what to do.

What Your Child May Be Experiencing:

Can lose steam when steps or expectations aren't clear

✅Feels like they are always being nagged to do something (especially things they don't like)

✅Ready for more responsibility and independence

💪🏼Build Ownership

Let your child choose the order or method for part of the routine. "Do you want to feed your hamster before or after pajamas on?", "Does math or science seem best to start for homework today?"

👀Visual Instead of Verbal

Rather than always verbally telling your child what to do, hand them the object (shoe, plate, book). Visual schedules (used the right way) are great for building independence.

🔔Signal for Change

Kids with ADHD have difficulty with transitions (especially from things they like to things that are boring). Use a hand signal, playlist, or Alexa timer to provide your child with a clue that a switch is coming up soon.

These are quick wins you can try right away- but to make your whole day run smoother, you'll need a routine that's designed specifically for how the ADHD brain is differently wired.
